1. No Personal Data Collection by the Extension

SimpleWeather.eu does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information from you. We are designed to be lightweight and privacy-focused, and we do not include any built-in tracking mechanisms, analytics, or advertising.

2. OpenWeatherMap API Key

SimpleWeather.eu requires you to provide your own API key from OpenWeatherMap (https://openweathermap.org) to fetch weather data.

• We do not collect or transmit your API key. Your API key is stored locally in your browser's storage (using Chrome's storage.local API) and is used solely to communicate with the OpenWeatherMap API to retrieve weather information for your chosen location.
• We recommend you obtain your API key directly from OpenWeatherMap to understand their terms of service and privacy policy, which are separate from ours.

3. Weather Data Usage

When you use SimpleWeather.eu and provide your location and API key, the extension will send requests to the OpenWeatherMap API to retrieve weather data for that location.

• This weather data is used solely to display the weather information within your new tab page.
• We do not store or log the weather data retrieved from OpenWeatherMap beyond what is temporarily needed to display it in your browser.

4. Third-Party Services

SimpleWeather.eu interacts with the OpenWeatherMap API, which is a third-party service. Please refer to OpenWeatherMap's privacy policy (https://openweathermap.org/privacy-policy or as available on their website) to understand their data handling practices.

Aside from the OpenWeatherMap API, SimpleWeather.eu does not use any other third-party services for analytics, advertising, or tracking.

5. Data Security

Your OpenWeatherMap API key is stored locally in your browser's storage, which is a secure storage mechanism provided by Chrome.

We take reasonable measures to protect the data within the extension's scope. However, as we do not collect personal data beyond the locally stored API key and transient weather data usage, the risk to your personal information is minimal.

6. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this policy and, if feasible, through a notification within the extension itself.
